Houghall Gardens

East Durham and Houghall College, Stockton Road.
Set in 25 acres it presents a range of gardening styles with an arboretum containing some rare tree varieties as well as the National Collection of Whitebeams. Orchid House (entry by arrangement). Water, heather and woodland gardens as well as a nursery selling plants and a coffee shop.

Old Durham Gardens
Riverside 17th century terraced gardens undergoing restoration, featuring pyramid yews, fragrant flowers and plants of the period and an orchard growing 17th century fruit varieties.

Wharton Park
City centre park offering breathtaking views of Durham. Impressive floral displays and Victorian style conservatory, also tennis courts, putting green, children’s electric cars (not available in winter), children’s play area with swings, slide etc.
